The Adopt a Clinic program was established in 2006 by the Seventh Day Adventist Church South Pacific Division Health department under the direction of  Dr Chester Kuma.

Sponsor churches and individual donors across Australia and New Zealand raise funds for the upgrading and maintenance of medical clinics and Aid Posts. In addition funds are provided for purchasing fiberglass canoes, outboard motors, medical equipment and furnishings. Volunteers sort and pack donated and new goods for container loading before shipments to overseas ports.

Volunteer teams from Australia and New Zealand commenced visits in 2007 to the South Pacific nations of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

There are some 56 clinics and aid posts in these nations under the auspices of the church. Currently there are still 6 clinics/aid posts requiring sponsorship were no work has as yet commenced.
